Kimberly Miles is an elementary principal facilitating a Turnaround School Improvement Grant for East Gresham Elementary. She has been a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and principal. She is passionate about students becoming life-long readers and providing equitable student growth and achievement for each of her students.

East Gresham Elementary is located 20 miles east of Portland, Oregon. There are 400 kindergartners through fifth-grade students who are learning the power of grit and a growth mindset on their road to “yet”. Students attending East Gresham bring with them diverse cultural backgrounds and life experiences. Their love of learning continues to inspire all of the 60 staff members.

To facilitate the change needed at East Gresham Elementary she has created a shared leadership framework for staff to be active participants in the school improvement process. Together they are creating a collaborative culture and monitoring their impact on student learning. Building capacity for teacher leaders and achievement sustainability continues to be her focus on their school improvement journey.
