I just finished my first year as assistant principal at McMinnville High School in McMinnville, Oregon. Jethro Jones is the Principal of Kodiak Middle School and host of the Transformative Principal Podcast, where he interviews principals, leaders, and influencers who help improve K-12 education throughout the world. A father of four, Jethro attended 5 elementary schools, 1 year in a junior high and 3 different high schools. This experience instilled a desire to provide the best educational experience to all students, no matter how long they are at his school. Jethro has always pushed the envelope on learning situations, and at Kodiak Middle implemented a flexible schedule that allows students to have Tier 2 interventions and enrichments. This is facilitated with the Pickr app, which Jethro helped develop to allow continuous adjustments of schedules tailored to meet students’ needs. Jethro has provided simple solutions to complex educational problems as a principal, district coach, library supervisor, and middle school teacher. Jethro currently serves as the Region 7 Director for the Alaska Association of Secondary School Principals.

Glenn Robbins is the principal at the Northfield Community Middle School. His passion is harnessing a school culture that thrives on design thinking skills, innovative digital spaces, BYOD/1to1, and Makerspaces. In addition, Glenn encourages all students to have a voice, not only in building a school culture, but also in designing student led courses. He was named as a 2016 Digital Principal of the Year by NASSP for exhibiting bold, creative leadership in his drive to harness the potential of new technologies to further learning goals for staff, students, and the school community. Glenn’s school is also the first school in New Jersey history to receive the SETDA Student Voices Award, which honors an outstanding K-12 school or district that has leveraged technology to dramatically improve the educational experiences and achievement of their students. Glenn has been recognized by numerous organizations for his innovative technology implementation methods, and has been a featured speaker at numerous events across the globe. He extensive travels to various schools across the globe have helped to diversify his views on education and implement new instructional methods to better both students and staff. By empowering students and staff to have a growth mindset through design thinking, while implementing digital tools, we can better prepare them to be agile, flexible and adaptive, towards the profound shifts that they will encounter in life.
